Many of our clients are wondering about the GB HS codes post Brexit. On this matter, we received a communication today from the UK Global Tariff team that confirms that GB will follow the EU tariff up to and into January of 2021. So the correlations provided for the EU still apply to GB for 2021. The only changes will be duty changes. The final agreement is still being worked on – and the closer we get to the end of the year the less likely it seems that a deal will be reached. It is unclear exactly what that means, but most likely it means the lack of any trade preferences across the GB/EU border, and so higher costs and barriers for exporters on both sides.
